Found Font | Project Neon Gateway Sculpture
Las Vegas, NV | 2014 - 2020
Found Font is an ancient relic that rises from the sands of time. Once forgotten, Found Font rises from the dirt to all its past glory; shining as a beacon to a new gateway in the desert landscape. The sculpturalform is influenced by the font shapes and patterns of vintage Vegas signage that rests peacefully in a Boneyard and Beyond. Found Font is one of two landmark sculptures PUNCH designed for the Neon Gateway as part of Project Neon Roadway Project in partnership with the City of Las Vegas, Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), and COLAB LV back in 2014. The massive 50'-0"L x 20'-0"h sculpture is a fabrication wonder as it made out of 1/4” structural plate steel with a custom CNC waterjet cut pattern based on abstract interpretation of vintage signage lightbulbs, simultaneously being bent in three different positions to create a three-dimensional undulating halo out of flat material. Found Font is painted with a custom enamel metallic cobalt blue paint and is illuminated internally and externally by color changing RGB LED lights.
