Nomikai | The Venetian Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV | 2024 - 2025
Bringing the spirited magic of Tokyo direct to the Las Vegas Strip, Nomikai is inspired by the beloved Japanese tradition of its namesake, where friends and colleagues come together to enjoy food and drinks in a vibrant setting. Offering two distinct experiences, part intimate sushi restaurant and speakeasy, part lively sushi counter, the latter is now open within the resort’s iconic Restaurant Row.
The design for Nomikai was complex as we had to carve out space out of BOH spaces that were a mix of office and storage into the lively and exciting restaurant and speakeasy spaces they are now. The material palette for the Nomikai Sushi & Sake bar is dark and moody with walnut and oxidized white oak wood cladding, basketweave green ceramic tiling, dark abyss black tiles, hot rolled steel, red neon lighting, and all complimented by a colorful and dynamic mural by Las Vegas/Tokyo based artist Sush Machida. The challenge with this was making sure Nomikai maintained its own identity while also working harmoniously with the Venetian Las Vegas’s aesthetic in the Restaurant Row corridor.
