slotBOX

Las Vegas, NV | 2016-2018

Located in The Ridges community in Las Vegas, NV, slotBOX was designed for great friends of ours who were looking to build a contemporary home with desert industrial aesthetics that offered long term durability that embraced wabi sabi and interior spatial flexibility for them as they looked to start a family. The compact 4,500 sf home sits on 0.3 acre site and explores simple geometric forms by pushing and pulling rectilinear shapes to create visual slots within the architecture and interior spaces. These slots allow for dynamic daylighting and shadow patterns to be created while also providing passive cooling and heating throughout. The exterior materials consist of Cor-Ten steel, hot rolled steel, shou sugi ban wood cladding, plaster, and insulated Omniblock. The interior palette brings in the exterior with the same materials for a cohesive look, while also adding in walnut wood doors, concrete and white oak flooring, and playful tiling elements throughout. The was the first home that we finished construction on.
